We're Back!

Home again, home again…

Wow! What a wonderful week Lucy and I had in Michigan with my family. Our days were filled with sitting in the shade on the float boat, boat rides, paddle ball in the lake, fishing, swimming at the sand bar, good food, naps, and lots and lots of fun!

The weekend started with my cousin Corrie's wedding!

Packing for Vacation!

Lucy and I are having a great Thursday! By 10:00 a.m. Lucy had taken her morning nap, I had washed the sheets, finished 2 loads of laundry, and we were on our way to the mall! After shopping, we were back home to pack for the lake! Lucy napped on the bed while I packed :)

Then she enjoyed some tummy time!Photobucket

We will be back in a week or so with pictures from the lake! BYE for now!

Hey Mom, Just In Case You Forgot...

…I wanted to remind you what it was like to have a newborn!

Lucy is now waking up every 2 - 3 hours at night to nurse! I've looked into reasons this could be happening and I think I've figured it out. Lucy is going through a growth spurt and is a distracted nurser during the day. This is something that can occur around 4 months of age when the baby becomes more aware of their surroundings. For example, instead of nursing for a good 5-8 minutes straight, like she was doing a month ago, she will nurse for 1-2 minutes and then pause to flash me her smile, look at the person who is talking across the room, look at the TV, or even talk to me for a little bit. Then she will proceed to nurse another 1-2 minutes and decide she is done for now! HAHA! Oh Luce!

I also weighed her yesterday at Breastfeeding group and she weighs 12 lbs. and 5 oz.!!! She is is definitely growing!

So last night we did our normal evening routine. A walk around 7:30, bath around 8:00, then Daddy read to Lucy while I pumped (we are trying to do a bottle every few days), then I rocked her to sleep. Around 9:45 she began to walk and I gave her a bottle in her co-sleeper. After finishing her bottle she proceeded to kick and smile but then shocked us both as she fell asleep ON HER OWN! (this is a first!!!!!) The night feedings were: 12:30 and 3:30 and 5:30 and 7:30! And the up for the day at 8:30 a.m. with the brightest smile ever!

I'm just trying to enjoy every moment of Luce and not get to caught up in the new change in her sleep pattern! :)

The Ehrmin's were all in town to celebrate with us and we had a lot of fun together!
Photobucket

I baked some OSU cookies for the day!
Photobucket

OSU's president Gordon Gee even joined in the celebration! HAHA! (Although Lucy wasn't so sure about him!)

After graduation, we surprised Denny at Bar Louie to watch the World Cup with some friends!

Lucy was a little trooper the entire day!

She napped throughout the afternoon!

But also prepared to graduate someday! :)

You won't be surprised to know Denny had a good time!

Lucy is proud of her Daddy! And also thrilled he is finished with night classes! :)

At 4 1/2 Months Lucy Loves:
-smiling all the time and drooling! :)
-sitting up with some help
-standing up holding your hands
-chewing on her favorite burp cloths
-grabbing her toys - especially her favorite octopus!
-playing in her bath
-stroller rides
-being carried in the Baby Bjorn or ring sling
-playing on her new Boppy Tummy Time mat!
-jumping in her jumperoo!

Dislikes:
-car rides are still not a favorite!
-sleeping through the night! (Now that Lucy is SO alert during the day she makes up for her missed feedings at night, because during the day she'd rather talk to me or flash her smile then actively eat! I have read this is very normal for active 4 month olds but it has taken some time to adjust to being up more at night.)
