Bedtime Routine!

We've started a new bed time routine with Lucy and it seems to be going well. Previously, we'd been doing the "eat, play, sleep" routine through the entire day until the late evening where she would normally take a long nap on Mommy or Daddy until we come upstairs to bed around 10:30-11:00 pm. Then we'd do a diaper change, swaddle, and nurse to sleep.

Now we come upstairs to the bedroom around 8:00 pm and Lucy gets a bath. Then after holding my warm little bundle in a towel (this is my favorite part!), she gets a lotion massage. With her warm pj's on, we play and read on our bed together! Then I nurse and rock her to sleep.

This new routine is getting Lucy to sleep a few hours earlier than normal and she seems to be doing well with the extra sleep. Surprisingly, she is also sleeping in later now too! This morning she woke up at 7:30 am, I nursed her, and she slept in until 8:50 am! WOW! What a treat for a Mommy and Daddy on their week off!

13 Weeks Old!

Happy 13 Weeks Lucy!



Likes:
1. kicking my legs like crazy
2. smiling when you talk to me in a silly voice
3. my new night time routine…..8:00 pm starts bath, lotion massage, reading books, nurse, bed time!
4. sleeping in until 8:00 am! (Mommy loves this new change!)
5. spending this entire week with Mommy and Daddy!
6. spending next week with my Daddy!
7. spending the next week with Grandma Dee!
8. my baptism bib Mimi got me!

9. I love my aunties!



Dislikes:
1. when my poop gets ALL OVER my car seat (ugh!)
2. Mommy going back to work next week! :(
3. riding in the car - If I'm not asleep, I'm not happy!
4. drinking from a bottle (I've got my Mommy worried!)

Lucy's Baptism

Today was a very special day for Lucy Josephine! She was baptized at St. Matthew's Church in Gahanna. We have been eager for this day to come and it was quite a blessing to have it on my first Mother's Day!


Lucy's Godparents, Julia and Craig, were there to support her on her Big Day!


And all the "Moms" celebrating Mother's Day!


Lucy was a good sport and didn't mind the holy water being poured on her head.

By the third splash she looked at us with those "what's going on" eyes..



She had LOTS of family to love her today!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Today is a very special day for our new family! It is my very first Mother's Day and Lucy is getting baptized!


It is also a very special day for the very best Mom in the world!

(Okay, I have to admit it….we do look alike :) )

Mom,
I hope someday my daughter, Lucy, will think of me as I think of you. I could not ask for a better Mother! Your love for life, your ever-flowing energy, your generosity, and your love for your children is absolutely admirable.

I appreciate everything about you! From the big things: paying for my college, supporting me as I grew into a young woman and then a new Mom, always being there for me in good times and not so good times. To the small things: our daily phone calls, the time you take to always read and comment on my blog, treating me to something special every time we go to Target :), the cards you send in the mail "just because."

I know that when God created "Mothers" he had you in mind. You fulfill the role beautifully and are a role model for the Mother I hope to be to Lucy someday. Thank you for always being there for me!

A Fun Wednesday with Mommy!

Lucy and I had a great Wednesday together! She's my little trooper and loves going on outings! We went to breastfeeding group and then out to lunch with some other Moms and babies. Lucy slept for the majority of the lunch and then enjoyed sitting on my lap smiling at the other babies! She has become quite the flirt lately. She knows just the perfect time to flash her adorable smile :)

I weighed her and she now weighs.......

11 pounds and 2 ounces! What a growing little baby girl!

This is Denny's last week at SBC! I think it is quite the bittersweet week for him because he is very excited for his new job but will really miss the people he works with now. They threw him a little happy hour going away party Wednesday evening so Laura decided to come spend the evening with Lucy and I! We had a blast with Laura and Lucy had A LOT to tell her....(she was talking up a storm!) Laura, thanks for visiting. We had a blast with you!

Our family is really looking forward to next week! Denny and I both have the entire week off from work and plan to have a "Family Vacation Week!" We've decided not to travel anywhere but just enjoy things around town! We're thinking maybe visiting the zoo, parks, North Market, outlets.....any suggestions? I'm really looking forward to this week together as a family. It is sad to think how few of these weeks we get with our busy work schedules!

Playdate with Emma!

Lucy and Emma had another playdate on Monday! Megan was in town and it was great to see her! The girls played at our house for the morning and then we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch followed by some shopping at Easton! Both girls were well behaved (yay!) and allowed us to browse through Crate and Barrel and babyGap!

We tried to take pictures of Lucy and Emma together. It isn't easy when neither baby can sit up on their own :)

Visit to the New Ohio Union!

On Sunday we took a little trip to check out the new Ohio Union! It was quite impressive! We had lunch at Woody's and toured the building!


The art exhibit on the 2nd floor was beautiful! Lucy decided to snooze through the tour :)

Likes:

1. my blocked tear duct is gone! (It has been for a week or so but I think Mommy and Daddy just now noticed!
2. falling asleep in the Baby Bjorn!
3. napping on Daddy's chest while he watches TV
4. smiling and talking
5. laughing (this is a new trick for me!)
6. kicking my legs
7. controlling my hands…I'm loving this new skill
8. grabbing for things…Today I got ahold of a toy and it made a noise
9. my new exersaucer that Mommy found at a garage sale (pictures coming soon!)
10. getting my picture taken…I love to smile :)


Dislikes:

1. I still do not like being in my carseat when the car isn't moving!
2. getting dressed after being in a warm bath
3. I do not like being overly tired….after an hour or so I need a nap, please!
4. sucking on a pacifier, booper, binkie….I don't care what you call it, I don't like it! :) (But for some reason Mom keeps trying!)
5. sleeping in past 8:00 am…This morning I played with Daddy so Mommy could sleep in. I think she enjoyed it!

3 Months Old!

3 months ago today we met you for the first time! Lucy, you were the most beautiful, teeny-tiny newborn.

A Day in the Life of LJE!

8:30 pm - nurse and fall sleep with Mommy on the couch
12:00 am - upstairs for diaper change, swaddle, and nurse back to sleep. Then slept in co-sleeper!
5:00 am - Mommy hears me beginning to wake and quickly nurses me back to sleep in bed
7:30 am - I'm AWAKE and ready to smile and talk to Mommy and Daddy! (diaper change)
8:30 am - Daddy's off to his soccer game but Mommy and I decided not to go due to the rain.
9:00 am - diaper change and nurse
9:15 am - morning nap (Mommy showers!)
10:00 am - awake and ready to play!
11:15 am - diaper change and nurse
11:30 am -napping on Daddy while Mommy goes to get her nails done (What a treat!)
1:00 pm - awake, diaper change and playtime!
1:30 pm - nurse
1:45 pm - napping on Mommy
3:00 pm - awake, diaper change, and photo shoot :) (You were quite the model today!)
3:45 pm - nurse
4:00 pm - Daddy rocks you to sleep!
5:00 pm - awake and diaper change
5:45 pm - nurse! I'm hungry today!
6:15 pm - nap (I couldn't stay awake to watch the Kentucky Derby race:(
6:45 pm - awake…just as Daddy came home with chinese take-out!
7:15 pm - diaper change, playing on the bed with Mommy as she folds laundry
8:00 pm - bottle (I'm still working on drinking from a bottle)
8:15 pm - playing with Daddy while Mommy pumps (what fun!)
8:30 pm - tears, tears, tears…I'm overly tired and need to go to sleep!
8:45 pm - sound asleep on Daddy while he watches the Cavs

Diaper changes in 24 hours = 8
Nursing in 24 hours = 9
