Lucy's First Easter!

Our family had a wonderful Easter with Lucy! We attended 10:30 Easter Mass at St. Matthew's and then came home to prepare to host our first Easter Dinner! Mimi, Papa, Uncle Jay, and Gigi drove to Columbus to spend Easter with us! We had a wonderful meal and enjoy spending the day together. The weather was just perfect, sunny and 70, so we all went on a walk together after dinner! I enjoyed setting the table with my china, crystal, and silver flatware! I also had fun making an Easter centerpiece!

This was also Lucy's second time going to church! She attended Palm Sunday Mass at St.Rose and then Easter Mass….at both services she was an ANGEL! Everyone "ohhhed" and "awwwed" about how teeny, tiny and cute she was in her Easter dress!

Lucy also met the Easter Bunny earlier in the week at Easton! I think she will be very happy that she slept through the ENTIRE experience :) Maybe next year we will get a smile…or maybe some tears!PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

How Much?

We're off to breastfeeding group this morning and I'm eager to weigh Lucy! Our 2 month doctor's appt. is not until next week so we'll get a sneak peak at her weight today. I wonder how much this little 8 week old weighs now?

……….

Lucy weighed 10 lbs. and 5 oz. without anything on! She is a still a petite little baby but growing quickly!

Sleep has really, really, really improved since she turned 8 weeks old! It was almost like 8 weeks was the magic number to start sleeping longer at night! Also her fussy hours of 8:00-11:00 pm have greatly improved (knock on wood please!). Her new routine is napping on Mommy or Daddy until around 10:00ish and then diaper change, being swaddled, and nursed to sleep. Then I lay her in the co-sleeper and she'll sleep up to 6 hours!!! I'll nurse her when she wakes (4:00-6:00am) and then she'll go back to sleep until a big poopy wakes her up around 7:00am! Daddy kindly changes her and brings her back to bed…at this time she'll either sleep for another hour or so…or she'll be WIDE AWAKE smiling and cooing. I'll take either after sleeping through most of the night :) I can still vividly remember nursing her every 2 hours throughout the entire night and rocking her back to sleep after every feeding….wow, how things have changed :)

Two Months Old!

I know I've said it with every post but…..I CAN'T BELIEVE our baby is turning 2 months old! I don't know where the time has gone.
Photobucket

I've decided to do a "Day In The Life of LJE" each month. I want to remember the changes she makes each and every month. This was the last "Day In The Life" I did when Lucy was just 3 weeks old. Now that she is 8 weeks old her daily schedule is very different! At 3 weeks old I nursed her 10 times and changed her diaper 15 times a day…WOW!

10:15 pm - Upstairs to Mommy and Daddy's room for diaper change, swaddled, nurse to sleep, then laid in co-sleeper!
5:00 am - I begin to grunt, wiggle around, and act hungry. Mommy changes my diaper and nurses me back to sleep. (Yes this is correct! Lucy slept 6 hours in her co-sleeper! Knock on wood….but this is her 3rd night in a row sleeping around 5-6 hour stretch!)
6:30 am - A big poppy wakes me up :( Mommy changes my diaper and rocks me back to sleep. I sleep next to Mommy this time :)
7:30 am - nurse and then back to sleep
9:00 am - I wake Mommy up with a BIG smile and my sweet cooing. We lay in bed together and "talk!"
10:00 am - nurse and Mommy rocks me!
10:15 am - After playing on Mommy and Daddy's bed for an hour I get sleepy rocking and take a nap in my swing!
10:45 am - woke up in my swing but fell back to sleep on the couch with Mommy!
12:45 pm - awake and time for a diaper change and nurse
1:15 pm - walk around the neighborhood = napping Baby
1:45 pm - back from walk and some tummy time!
3:00 pm - pause playing time for diaper change
3:30 pm - nurse and fall asleep on Mommy
4:00 pm - continue my nap in my swing so Mommy can shower (small success in the day!)
5:15 pm - awake and play time with Daddy when he got home from work!
5:45 pm - short nap in Pack n' Play and Mommy and Daddy ate dinner together :)
6:30 pm - nurse and diaper change....then more play time
7:30 pm - another very, very necessary diaper change before car ride to post office and bank
8:45 pm - back from errands and nurse. Awake and "watching" tv with Daddy.
9:30 pm - diaper change, put on pj's, and nurse to sleep. Sleeping on Daddy while he watches the March Madness championship game between Duke and Butler!

Diaper changes in 24 hours = 8 times
Nursing in 24 hours = 9 times

I love my little 2 month old :)

Babysitting Elisabeth Last Week!

Monday and Tuesday Lucy and I spent the day with Elisabeth! She was such an angel and absolutely LOVED spending the days with Lucy! On Monday she did EVERYTHING I did with Lucy with her own baby doll. In the pictures, if you look very carefully, you will spot her little doll right alongside Lucy. It is like an "Eye Spy A Doll" game. It was so cute how she played "Mommy" with me all day long. She is going to be a wonderful big sister very soon!

Then Tuesday roles switched and she decided she wanted to be the baby. She would lay in the play yard with Lucy. Sit in the bouncy seat. She even asked if she could lay in the Pack n' Play! Obviously, I played right along with her and spent my day with two "babies!"

Good Morning Sunshine!

Lucy's First Trip to the Grocery Store...

I keep telling myself that I'll laugh about this someday...

Thursday afternoon I decided to pack Lucy up and head to Giant Eagle. We had NO groceries and it was a gorgeous day out. Also, Thursday evenings Denny has class at OSU (he will graduate in June!) and we had no plans for the night. I nursed Lucy, changed her diaper, etc and we were ready to go. The trip started out great as Lucy fell asleep on the way to the grocery store.

I carried her in and this is when the adventure began.....what do I do with her huge carseat?!? I just didn't feel comfortable placing it on top of the cart like I've seen some moms do. So I placed sleeping Lucy's carseat in the cart basket. Now there literally is NO room left for groceries! HA! Off we go to get some groceries. I filled in the small spaces around her carseat, the small upper basket, and the rack below the cart. Groceries were literally falling off the cart as we turned corners. As I headed to the checkout Lucy began to stir and wake up. Perfect timing...NOT! There were long lines at the 3 registers that were open. When we finally got to the checkout, I unloaded my cart and my real adventure began...I couldn't find my keys with my Giant Eagle card. I didn't stress about it and quickly paid. A nice worker offer to push my groceries out to my car so I could carry Lucy...as we were walking out I was scavenging through my diaper bag for my keys.

This is when my heart began to race....my keys are NO WHERE to be found. We make it out to my car and I still haven't found my keys. The worker helps me check in the cart, Lucy's carseat, etc and the keys are still missing. What am I going to do? I notice I left the back window cracked open so I reach in and unlock the car......OPPS! There goes the alarm!!! HONK, HONK, HONK!

So now I'm standing in the parking lot with a baby who is now totally awake, a cart full of groceries, a HONKING car, and NO keys! I'm starting to feel pretty panicked at this point. What am I going to do? Denny's in class and at least 20 minutes away. My groceries are all melting as it's 80 and sunny today. I walk back inside with the nice worker to see if anyone found my keys and turned them in.....NOPE! As we head back outside I'm officially starting to sweat! HA! I reach into the back of my diaper bag, where the changing pad goes, and I hear keys! I literally dove into the bag head first and finally found them stuck INSIDE the changing pad....I have NO IDEA how they got there.

Finally, the groceries were loaded into my car and Lucy and I were heading home. The entire way home I'm telling Lucy that we won't be going to the grocery store together for A LONG LONG LONG TIME! She was okay with it...she told me she prefers short trips to Target and Easton anyways...hehe!

...I keep telling myself I'll laugh at this story someday :)

Opps...I forgot to post pictures from our visit to GES!

While Katie was in town a few weeks ago, I went back to my work to introduce Lucy to my co-workers and students! It was fun to show off Miss Lucy to my teacher friends.…and my students just couldn't get enough of her! They were so cute!

Their comments were so cute...
"She's sooo tiny!"
"I wonder if she recognizes our voices?"
"Mrs. Ehrmin, your belly is gone?!?"
"She looks like you!"
"My mom gave me her cell phone today to take a picture of your baby!"

One students even had a gift for Lucy!
