I made it...

The first week of school went really well! A 5 day week was quite the lengthy return to school after a long summer but I'm glad I've got the first week under my belt. I have a great class, with LOTS of different needs, although I think it will make for an interesting, ever-chaning year. During the regular school day 8 of my 23 students receive educational services outside my classroom....someday soon I hope to have this schedule figured out :)

Here are some pictures from the first week of school! Enjoy their little smiling faces :)

Busy week for teachers...

First, let's start with the most exciting news! I am 4 months into the pregnancy and feeling great! The baby is the size of an avocado and can move its arms and legs. I am hoping I will begin to feel the baby move on a regular basis! I am still not showing much of a baby bump and can still wear my regular pants/shorts/skirts to work. I am sure this won't last long!

Monday is the first day of school for students in Granville! I have 23 students in my class this year. 13 girls and 10 boys. 5 of the students have special needs and have Individualized Education Plans. 4 of the students have been identified "gifted." I think it is going to be a great year! Friday night was Open House and I had the opportunity to meet 21 of my students and their families. By "families" I mean they bring grandma, grandpa, all 5 siblings (in strollers), mom, dad, step-dad, step-mom, cousins, etc, etc! This makes for a very crowded classroom!

I'll never forgot the one little girl who ran into my room, right towards me, embraced me in a hug and said "I wanted you to me my teacher so bad!" Hahahah....I think her Mom, Dad, and 4 siblings were a little shocked by her excitement!

I am excited, anxious, nervous, and eager to get back into the swing of things at school. It is wonderful to be DONE with my masters so I can devote myself to just teaching and not going to school myself. Today Denny and I are heading into Granville for a few hours so I can finish getting ready for Monday.

I'll be sure to update you all on the first day of school sometime this week! (Maybe I'll even take my camera so I can capture all the cute smiling faces for you all to see :) )

Doctor's appointment update!

Today @ 10:15 I had my 15 week appointment with Dr.Atwood! It went really well and I got to hear the little heart beating. As the doctor held the doppler, listening to the heartbeat, we heard a few louder swooshing sounds. She smiled and said "The baby is kicking at me! Do you feel it?" And sure enough, I could FEEL IT! I felt the baby for the first time today! What an amazing feeling!

My next appointment is September 23rd and it is the BIG ULTRASOUND!!!

p.s. The baby is the size of an APPLE this week! Just in time for me to go back to school...hahaha :) First day is August 24th!

Saturday Morning Garage Sales

This morning I got up @ 7:30 to hit this street-wide Bexley garage sale! I was hoping to find some goodies for the baby.

When I got there I only saw a few cars and I worried I had gotten up for nothing, but at the second garage sale I hit the jackpot!

1. Baby Bjorn carrier
2. JJ Cole BundleMe carseat cover
3. a few cute outfits
3. a few nice board books
4. infant sheet protectors
5. MiracleBlanket for swaddling newborns

6. and THE BEST FIND OF ALL!!! ----- Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper
It is a co-sleeping crib that attaches the baby's sleep space to the side of the parent's bed. The baby sleeps within arm's reach of the parents. Once the baby can roll over, the mattress can be lowered to make it a Pack and Play.

This week the cutest little package arrived from North Hollywood, California! Melanie and Zack sent Baby Ehrmin the cutest little outfit!

14 weeks!

I've hit the 14 week mark and am feeling so much better! I shared the news at school yesterday and that was a big relief. My principal was very kind and excited and all my teacher friends were thrilled! I'll be in and out of the classroom during the next week as I get ready for the first day of school....AUGUST 24th! I can't believe summer is over, although I'm anxious to start another school year! Yesterday I organized all my new pens, pencils, markers, and school supplies and Laura and I laughed, "This is exactly why we love teaching!" :)

Here's a developmental update on our little baby:
"This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body."

Clark Lake Vacation!

Mom and Papa rented an adorable cottage on Clark Lake last week! It was the cleanest, cutest cottage I've ever seen. What a relaxing week we had!

13 weeks!!!

YAY! I've hit the 13 week mark. If you read the information on the side of the blog called "Pregnancy Facts" you will see that our little baby is now 3 inches long and the size of a PEACH!!! How cute!

I also noticed under the information for "Mom" it said you will START TO FEEL BETTER!!! And I have to say, I agree! The past two days have been pretty good for me and I don't find myself gagging all day long! It is a wonderful change and I hope is sticks around. Also, I've been able to eat things I haven't been able to even get close to for 3 months!

We had a busy, fun weekend and I'll post pictures this evening. Saturday evening with went to "Picnic with the Pops" and today we are going to the Ohio State Fair with Megan to visit Tim.

Here are pictures from the Picnic with the Pops at OSU!
